Many of you have asked how things are going with Brycen so I thought that I'd just do a little update on how things are going with him. For those who may not know, this past October I noticed that Brycen was having some weird upper body/head spasms and I asked our Dr. about them. He said that they might be tics and referred us to a neurologist in IF. We got into the neurologist in Dec. and he scheduled a EEG (the test they do to see if your neurons are misfiring in your brain) in Jan. We went to the EEG and Brycen did such a great job, he was very brave and just sat there watching cartoons for 45 min. while they marked his head and hooked up the 21 electrodes. They did the EEG and said that they had never had a better patient than Brycen and that he did better than the older kids do! I was very proud of him. The EEG came back abnormal and the Dr. said that Brycen was having little mini seizures, but was not very helpful about what we should do about it, he just wanted to wait it out until he started having grand-mal seizures. This was not ok with me or our family Dr. so we got a referral to Primary Children's Medical Center. PCMC did not call me so my Dr. told me to call them and get an appointment because it takes about 3 months to get in. I called this monday (the 4th) and they wanted us to come down on the 6th. With such short notice Dallen could not get off, and since our car was in the shop (which is another story for another day) I called my wonderful sister Bethanie to see if she would drive me down. So we drove down with our 4 kids and stayed with Angie.
The Dr. in IF had not sent the EEG to the Dr. at PCMC (even though he had been asked twice and I had called to confirm that it had been done) so we talked about the seizures and he took some blood and urine from Brycen and we set up an MRI for Brycen on the 20th of Feb. so that hopefully we will be able to rule out a few things. The Dr. at PCMC was really great and he even had Brycen laughing which as many of you know is no small feat. So we will be getting the EEG and MRI results to the Dr. as well as the lab results from the blood and urine and the Dr. will look at all of them and hopefully we will be able to figure something out. Brycen has stopped having the spasms but he could still be having seizures, so that is what we are trying to determine. The Dr. is hopeful about things because Brycen is developing fine and is very smart. Hopefully it will just be something that has come and gone, but keep him in your prayers, he still has to have an MRI.

Oh my goodness!! I can't imagine how stressful it must be to go through that. Brycen is SO cute!! I truly hope that things go well for him, and for you guys!
I'm sorry you are going through this! I hope they can figure out what is going wrong...or better yet that it fixed itself! Keep us posted.
