I can do this...right?

Ah, nothing like a new calling to bring you to your knees right? Well, our Bishop mentioned that he wanted to meet with me and Dallen last week. We met with him on Sunday. We both already have callings but this time of year our ward does a lot of changing with many people leaving. We figured it was a joint calling since he asked to meet with both of us and we were excited about that. We chatted for a bit then he extended the call...to me...Primary President. I have never served in the primary before other than being a Nursery leader when we were first married. I don't know how things work in there. I guess I will soon. The Bishop asked Dallen if he could support me in this calling he said (very enthusiastically) absolutely, 100%. This would have meant more if I had known it was a vote of confidence, not a sigh of relief from him. (I have been teasing him that he would get put in the bishopric when we get a new one. I guess he feels pretty safe now) I had 3 days to submit my names for counselors. Luckily that came very easily. They sustained me on Sunday and I didn't notice any votes of opposition so that's a start right? I keep thinking, "I can't even get it right with my kids and now I have stewardship over all the kids in the ward, yikes". I am excited and grateful for the calling but to say that I am overwhelmed would be a huge understatement. It is such a huge job. I can do this...right?

Christin, You are going to do such an awesome job. If you don't already know about it sugardoodle.net is a great website for all things IDEAS for LDS stuff. I used it a lot when I taught primary but I know it has tons of ideas on sharing times and such. Good Luck!

Have you ever failed at anything in your life? You'll be fabulous! The kids in your ward are lucky.

You were in Activity Days with me for a year! So, that part should be easy for you! :) If you need any advise I'm here for ya! I'm no Pro but I think that with 8 years of Primary under my belt with 2 of that as Primary Pres. I should be able to help a little! You'll do great!

Oh, you can do it, Christin. I have no doubt of that. Last time I had to teach RS (MY new calling) I was voicing my nervousness at I experience every time stand up at that table. Afterward one of the "older" sisters came up and said, "You know, I've been teacher several different times and every time I teach, I still get really nervous. I think it is a blessing from the Lord so that I remember to rely on him." I've thought about that over the past week or so, and I think it's true. It's good to feel inadequate, otherwise we wouldn't plead to him for the help that we desperately need to fulfill our callings in the way he wants us to. You will do wonderful. Somehow, even though you can't get your own children's names right, you'll remember the ones in your ward. :) You'll do beautifully. And you'll be filled with love for those children that will help you fill your calling perfectly.

Christin! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come and be my Primary President! I am so dang (yes, I said it!) jealous of the kids in your ward! You will be the most amazing Primary President in the Church because you're creative, witty, energetic, fun, and you have a testimony that is real and sincere--and you'll look HOT while you're doing it! ;)

I honestly believe that if anyone would be great in that calling, it would be you! Those kids need a great start in life with the gospel and you will be just the person to reach them! We love you.
